Parkvale Bank’s SWAT Team supports the Allegheny County, Pa. Special Olympics. By providing sports training, an opportunity for physical fitness and Olympic-style games, the Allegheny County Special Olympics promotes goodwill and competitiveness in children and adults with mental retardation.

The organization’s philosophy emphasizes the belief that competitiveness gives individuals with developmental disabilities a chance to prove they can achieve. To find out more about the Allegheny County Special Olympics visit the organization’s website at www.so-ac.org.
SWAT TEAM OUTREACH UPDATE

Since it began supporting the Allegheny County Special Olympics in October 2002, Parkvale Bank’s SWAT Team has contributed more than $39,000 to the organization.

In 2008, the SWAT Team was the title sponsor of the Annual Special Olympics Singles and Team/Unified Bowling tournaments, which took place January 13 and February 3. On behalf of Parkvale, a total of $2,000 was collected for the organization.

Parkvale Bank Branch Manager & AVP John Sierzega, Special Olympics Athlete Maria Fenlock and SWAT Team Leader, Branch Manager & AVP Sandra Keicher posed with Parkvale Bank's $5,000 donation check to Allegheny County Special Olympics.

As in years past, Parkvale’s SWAT Team was a major sponsor of this year’s Allegheny County Special Olympics Summer Games. The games took place May 10, 2008 at Baldwin High School. During the ceremonies, SWAT Team Leader Sandra Keicher presented the organization with a check for $5,000.

The SWAT Team held their 5th annual miniature golf tournament on September 11, 2008 at the Cool Springs Golf Center in Bethel Park, PA. Proceeds from this event also benefitted the Allegheny County Special Olympics.

Throughout the year, the SWAT Team sells Sarris chocolate-covered pretzel rods and candy bars in each of its seven branch offices, collecting donations to help fund its charitable work. Seasonally, SWAT Team offices offer $1 Special Olympic Torches to walk-in clients to buy, sign, and post on the branch walls.
